Effects of phosphate and phytase supplementation on phytate degradation in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss W.) and Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)
Highlights
- The same diet was used in Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout to study gastrointestinal phytate breakdown.
- The intrinsic phytate degradation potential of Atlantic salmon and rainbow trout seems to be similar and relatively low.
- Phytase supplementation effects were much higher in rainbow trout than Atlantic salmon.
- Supplementation of monoammonium phosphate decreased phytase efficacy in Atlantic salmon.
