Lactococcosis in trouts

Good Practices Manual

The Good Practices Manual is part of a project aimed at raising awareness among trout farmers that reducing the impact of Lactococcosis while simultaneously decreasing antibiotic use requires a holistic approach that includes multiple tools.
The Manual is designed as a practical guide, providing recommendations on how to manage Lactococcosis in trout farming, with information on:

  • What is Lactococcosis
  • How to recognize it
  • How to fight it when it arises
  • Which actions should be put in place to prevent it

Stop Lactococcosis? Together we can!

The project

The project Stop Lactococcosis? Together We Can! was launched to offer farmers a sustainable solution to the significant and growing challenge of Lactococcosis. Our approach integrates several tools designed to improve fish health and reduce reliance on antibiotics, especially during critical times of the year.

A challenge to face with shared strategies

The project actively involves stakeholders in developing a comprehensive and effective action plan for managing this issue.
In the past, we collaborated with the biotech pharmaceutical company HIPRA to provide concrete solutions and promote best vaccination practices for the prevention of Lactococcosis. If you'd like to learn more about our partnership with HIPRA, we invite you to read the full article below.
