Skretting Indonesia Collaborates with Phillips Seafoods Indonesia to Continue Mangrove Conservation for Sustainable Barramundi Farming

Monitor the results of the mangrove planting from last year (2023)

In October 2024, Skretting Indonesia is proud to announce its participation in today’s mangrove planting event, organised in collaboration with Phillips Seafoods Indonesia. This initiative is part of Skretting’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainable environmental practices and contributing to the preservation of Indonesia’s vital coastal ecosystems.

The event, held at Pengametan Beach, North Bali, Indonesia, was attended by team members from Phillips Seafoods Indonesia and the dedicated team from Skretting Indonesia. Together, approximately 45 participants successfully planted 830 mangrove trees, which had been cultivated at Phillips Seafoods Indonesia's mangrove nursery facilities, along the coastline. This effort will help restore vital marine habitats and address coastal erosion.

Mangroves, known for their ability to absorb carbon dioxide, provide a natural barrier against coastal erosion and support a diverse range of wildlife. They play a crucial role in maintaining the health of estuaries and coastal ecosystems. By planting these trees, both Skretting Indonesia and Phillips Seafoods Indonesia are making a positive impact on the environment and helping to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the region for future generations.

“We are honoured to be part of this important environmental initiative. We hope that this action will support the businesses of Skretting Indonesia and Phillips Seafoods Indonesia,” said Budiyanto, Manager of LifeStart and Marine Grow Out Feed at Skretting Indonesia. Also present at the event was Troy Keast from Phillips Seafoods Indonesia, who stated, “In addition to reducing plastic use, mangrove planting is one of the many ways we contribute to environmental sustainability. We believe that protecting our natural resources is crucial to ensuring a healthy future for our communities and our planet.”

Skretting Indonesia plans to continue its support for Phillips Seafoods Indonesia’s environmental projects and hopes to organise similar events in the future. Skretting Indonesia invites other organisations and individuals to join in the effort to protect and restore Indonesia's valuable natural resources.
