Skretting North America is pleased to announce a remarkable achievement by our colleague, Loren Jensen, who has been inducted into the prestigious Northwest Fish Culture Hall of Fame. This award, presented by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) at the recent Northwest Fish Culture Conference in Seaside, Oregon, recognises individuals for their outstanding service and contributions to advancing salmonid fish culture in enhancement hatcheries.

Loren worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) for over 32 years at ODFW hatcheries across the state, and he retired from Bonneville hatchery which is one of Oregon's largest and most complex facilities. Throughout his tenure at ODFW, Loren played a pivotal role in revolutionizing fish culture techniques, ensuring the sustainability and health of fish populations, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Beyond his technical contributions, Loren’s commitment to nurturing talent has left an indelible mark on the industry. He hired, trained, and mentored countless staff members, students, and technicians, sharing his expertise and passion for fisheries management. Additionally, Loren taught fish culture classes at Mount Hood Community College, blending education with practical hands-on training for students enrolled in the Fisheries Technology program.

After retiring from ODFW, Loren joined our Bio-Oregon team as an account manager where he has been for 18 years. Loren continues to provide superior service to Bio-Oregon’s customers by educating current fish culturists on feed products and new developments and techniques to optimize growth and fish health. He has provided countless hours of training, mentoring, and fostering the growth of future generations of fish culturists.

All of us at Skretting North America are proud of Loren’s accomplishments, and we congratulate Loren on his joining the Northwest Fish Culture Hall of Fame.
